We started 2009 with a thankful celebration. The sales of both the 2007 and 2008 Christmas CD’s recorded by the children of Casa Infanil, under the supervision of Carlos Santana, were so successful that we have now paid for the land where, with your help, we will build a new, larger, more efficient home for Casa Infantil Mojoneras.
We have outgrown our current facility, which we are renting. This new project will provide more space that will include specific classrooms, study areas, a larger kitchen with a designated dining area and eventually even a dormitory for children unable to remain at home for short periods of time.
Our coordinator, Sara de Cardona and her small group of volunteers work tirelessly to obtain the support needed, from the community, businesses and organizations, to provide for the everyday needs of the children including food, clothing, school supplies and other items too numerous to mention. However, each year we have specific goals and this year they are:
Fundraising Goals for the Second Half of 2009:
- Provide food and necessities for the maintenance and support of the more that 150 under privileged children cared for daily by Casa Infantil Mojoneras
- Promote our new “Tile Project” along with other exciting fundraising events to fund our new building project on the land we purchased last year.
- Provide school supplies & uniforms for the children
- Obtain the sponsors necessary to fund the special celebrations and holiday events during the year
- Make a new fundraising CD with Mexican Songs
As you can see, again this year, the volunteers have set their sights high. We have an almost overwhelming amount of work ahead of us, but with your help, we are ready to complete the challenge with hope and most importantly…love for the children of Vallarta.
Fund Raising is an ongoing project for the volunteers of Casa Infantil Mojoneras. We are a small group of volunteers and are always looking for more people to help us. If you would like to donate money or your time, have a great idea, and/or you are able to provide a special skill to help the children and/or their parents (i.e. teachers, psychologist, unique trades or skills, crafts) we would be most appreciative of the help.
