Tile Wall Project

Our new building project is important because it gives Casa Infantil an opportunity to improve and expand the services that we now provide for the children, parents and the entire community of Mojoneras.  However, in order to accomplish this, we have a big job ahead of us.  Not only do we need to continue our normal fundraising activities, we need to double our efforts to raise enough additional funds to begin the construction of our new larger facility after the rainy season this year.  (Please refer to the New Building Project page for details on the new home for Casa Infantil).

In our constant search for new innovative ways to raise funds, we have come up with an exciting new concept — The Tile Wall Project.  The Tile Wall is a fantastic fundraising project.  In keeping with our basic premise that children must learn personal empowerment and how to help themselves, each tile on our Tile Wall will be hand sculpted and hand painted by the children with loving care.  All the tiles will include an original painting designed by the children themselves, the donor’s name and date along with the artists signature.
When the tiles are mounted in the new building this vibrant colorful wall will become an important focal point.  We will be dedicating an area directly inside the new building to this unique tile mural.
The wall will become and instant source of recognition, satisfaction and pride to the painters and to the contributors, as well as a permanent memento of children, parents, staff and friends who have a special connection with Casa Infantil Mojoneras. The wall can grow each year and become an annual event so that future children, parents and friends can also make their mark on the building.

The donation for each tile masterpiece will be offered for $100 US dollars and our initial goal is to obtain donors for 500 tiles by the end of summer.  During this time we will also begin obtaining commitments from individuals, businesses and sponsors for most of the

We also want to give a special thank you here to an amazing man, Cap.  Benigno Ibarra Castañeda the owner of Mundo de Azulejos, (Tile World www.talavera-tile.com) in downtown Puerto Vallarta for his amazing input, ideas and generous donation of a kiln in order for us to make and fire the tiles.  He has been making tiles for over 22 years and has assured us that with a little instruction, our own kiln and a large lump of clay the children will be able to make each masterpiece tile from the beginning to the end.  Not only will this be an exciting fundraising project, it will also be an important learning experience for the children.  Who knows... it might even turn into a profession for some of our budding young artists.  So all of us here at Casa Infantil want to send a larger than life “Thank You” and a big beso (kiss) to Cap. Benigno Ibarra Castañeda.  Only with sponsors like this and your help can we hope to succeed.

As you can see, we have a busy summer ahead of us and once again, we look forward to the challenge and opportunity this new project presents.  We are excited to begin and there is no time like the present.  If you would like to donate to our new building project and have your own personal tile masterpiece sculpted and painted for you by the children, please click on the donation button and start the process.   Thank you in advance.
